Memorial Weekend

This weekend Kenny and I did something we haven't done in a Long time...

hang out with friends!

Our great friends Jeff and Brenda came over from California to hangout with us 

Funny thing about these two is that:

1. Brenda and I go way back to the good ol days in St. Joseph 1st ward (Missouri), always there to make sure that our teachers were on their toes

2. Jeff and Kenny, crazy enough, met as companions on their missions in Las Vegas

Who would have thunk?  

Our first stop was the GRAND CANYON

side note: All growing up my dad tried to get us to come here, but my typical response was "No I don't want to go see a big whole in the ground" 

Well I'm admitting it now, I was wrong and the Grand Canyon is Much more then just a big whole in the ground... sorry Dad

This is us at the beginning of the day before all the hiking! 

 

Then we hiked down the canyon and realized we had to hike back up....

Kenny enjoyed the view...

while I was about to fall off

we hiked all around the South Rim 

 

goofing around was a must

still fitting in time for a good smooch

this was a vacation for the books

Audios Grand Canyon, we Will be back to explore more

The rest of the weekend was filled with good food, games, tennis & swimming

+Also we got a great surprise on Memorial Day with the good news of a new niece! Congrats Tren and Angela on your baby girl Liesl (spelling is questionable)

Hopefully it won't be long until our next fun filled weekend!

What could be better?

1. I'm with the love of my life

2. We're in the House of the Lord

3. We get to give service by helping those beyond the veil

4. We get to remember our wedding day :)

5. We're away from the chaos of the world

PLUS did I mention we're in the Air Conditioning -it's 108 degrees outside...Yuck!-

 Then of course we have to get some good grub!!

I would say this was one for the books!

Oatmeal Egg Shell Cookies

So yesterday Kenny tells me that he is craving cookies!

This sounds good to me since I haven't had a  chance to use our new Kitchen Aid

 (Thanks Mom & Granny)

So I get on Pinterest and find this great Oatmeal Chocolate Chip recipe.

Weirdly enough Kenny doesn't like Chocolate chips... CRAZY I know... so I'll just leave that part out

So we're mixing mixing mixing and then it's time for the eggs 

I crack one egg. Good. Second egg.... Uhhh Ohh

The look on Kenny's face was a mix of unbelief and Ohh great no more cookies

So I act like its no problem, take out the big chunks and then Turn it on HIGH

:) 

Good as new

I insisted it was fine and we finished the recipe

Here is the final product

I Googled eggshells and I guess they are good for you and filled with Calcium

give em a try!

no need for chocolate chips, egg shells work great

How did we get here?

It seems like each morning I wake up, look to my right, see Kenny and say " Oh My Gosh I can't believe I'm married!" I don't know how to cook or really clean that well... I'm not fit for this position. But the days go by and somehow we survive after endless amount of Okay at best cooking skills and mediocre wife skills.

Kenny and I have been married for 3 months and  10 days today and here are a few things that I've learned...
1. Kenny must have been in major pain while we were dating by holding in all of his farts because now that were married there is no more holding them back and they NEVER STOP!
2. Budgeting is HARD!
    Kenny and I saved all of our receipts ( wow I cannot believe how much we spend) and then made a budget for the month. Man I really felt married at this point....
But we did good and stuck to our budget. The part that I shouldn't you is that we only did it for that month and not sense... woops. We should get back on that :)
3. I am a horrible sleeping partner. For the first monthish of our marriage I think kenny was getting an average of 5 not very good hour a sleep each night. According to him my body radiates extreme heat, no matter the size of the bed I roll to the center once I fall asleep, and I talk constantly throughout the night. Sorry Kenny, I love you!
4. The crock pot is my best friend! Knock on wood, I've never burnt any food while using a crock pot yet! That is a great victory for me since I've made a habit of burning pretty much everything else... Moms everywhere I need help!!!
5. Life is just more fun with your best friend always being by your side!
Seriously I chose right marrying Kenny. There is never a dull moment with this guy by my side. I LOVE HIM
